About
In 2006, current Spike club director, Jeff Liker, saw a need to get more high school boys in the Wauwatosa area to play volleyball during their "off-season." As a result he founded Trojan Volleyball Club. Then in 2011 the club changed its name to Spike Milwaukee and sought to appeal to a wider range of athletes throughout the greater Milwaukee metro. In 2012, Spike began to offer more teams including middle school ages. Today Spike offers teams for ages 11-18.
Spike fields high level athletes; however, we understand that families and kids nowadays have more things going in their lives than ever before. Spike recognizes this, and as a result we schedule our practices and tournaments with a reasonable and manageable time commitment. Since our inception, we have consistently fielded competitive teams with many of our players making all-conference teams at their respective high schools.
Spike Milwaukee’s focus is on skill development in a competitive atmosphere. Our coaches are dedicated to building each individual player’s skill set to a new level and to learning the game of volleyball. Additionally, we are devoted to building team camaraderie and developing a lifelong passion for the game.
Furthermore, we strive hard in keeping club costs down and are very transparent with our financial commitment. We are realistic in knowing that there is more to life than volleyball during the winter and pride ourselves in working around other conflicts that arise.
Spike Milwaukee VBC focuses on skill development in a competitive atmosphere. We vow to give kids fair playing time. Furthermore, Spike is dedicated to promoting the emotional and social well-being of their players. This includes but is not limited to team camaraderie, leadership skills, and maturation. Our coaches are devoted to promoting the game of volleyball as a lifelong passion.
We hold our athletes, families, and coaches to a high level of sportsmanship. Consequently we stand by and enforce our player "pledge of ethics", and spectator "code of conduct" as outlined in our handbook.
Our club is proud to have met the requirements to be a "Badger Certified" club from the Badger Region. This program distinguishes those clubs which have met a standard of excellence as outlined by Badger Region.
